Tomorrow

Hello Everyone- Well it is here, we are heading up to Omaha tomorrow. The prayer vigil tonight was absolutely incredible! There were so many people there who I care so deeply for, it was the best send off and gave me a lot of encouragement that I can do this! I was having a bit of anxiety today but you all gave me the strength and the will to fight and win!
We drop Ella off at daycare early in the morning, give me strength for this moment! I think this will be tremendously difficult for me! Then I have a procedure around 1pm to have the filter placed near my heart prior to surgery. Then Wednesday I will be admitted to the hospital to do my bowel prep and surgery is scheduled for 7:30 am on Thursday.
Doug will blog to update you on what is going on. He will be there with me for it all so he will know exactly what is going on. My sister has a list of people she will send updates too. THis list was created when I was first diagnosed and grew and grew. So she will keep some of you updated through that. I will be at Creighton University MEdical Center.

Thank you all for your tremendous support you have given my family. Doug and his family really need prayers right now as his grandfather, his mother's father, is probably going to pass away soon. He took a turn for the worse this weekend and we have said our goodbyes. So please keep doug and his family in your prayers as well, he not only has to deal with his grandfather passing away, but me and my recovery. That is a lot to handle!
I better get to bed and try to sleep. Tomorrow will come quickly, we have to be up early! We will have our laptop so I will try to write before my surgery. Maybe as I am undergoing the bowel prep I can write something, hehe. Again, thank you all who came to the vigil, it was an amazing moment! And thank you all who are praying for us! God is listening and he will not let us down! Love, shawndra

Shawndra -
I spoke with Dell on SUnday and she let me know that you had this blog! I was so happy to find it because I had only gotten a little information about you, and have been praying for you since I heard of your diagnosis. My heart aches for you and your beautiful family and everything you are (and have been) going through. I am holding you and your family close to my heart, thoughts and prayers.

I do know one thing, however... you always had a special gift about you. You are an incredible person, and if anyone can kick this thing out the door... it is you! You are such a gift to everyone you meet.

Much love, Mandy (Hamlin) Featherston

Sorry I missed the prayer vigil but you are certainly in my thoughts and prayers! My family did say a special prayer for you right at 6:30 :-) If you need anything, you have my email and I am pretty close. My son thinks Ella is a cuttie and would love a play date! lol

Doug, I hope that your Grandfather does not have to suffer. If it is his time, I hope that he is at peace. Shawndra, I hope that your dropping off Ella went well. I imagine that would be difficult. When you feel that your strength is slipping, remember the force behind you here on earth as well as the one from above and draw strength from that. You, Doug, and both families will be in our prayers.

Shawndra,
You are a strong woman! We have never met, but I am a good friend of Doug's mother, Victoria. My name is Diana Petruzzi and I work in the Olathe School District. That is how I met Victoria. God does such amazing things! Another Christian friend of mine sent me the link to your blog. Her name is Jacki Hamlin who was sent the blog link, in request for prayer, by a girl named Mandy. I believe Mandy goes to your church. Anyway, this was not a "by chance" happening. I told Victoria last week that I would be praying for her family. God has led me to your blog so I can put a face with my prayers. Shawndra...you are beautiful and amazing. I will be praying all week for you. God will never leave your side. He will be with you this week to comfort you and give you strenth. Jesus said that in this world we will have trouble....but also to never fear for He has overcome this world! I know this is difficult, but just keep looking to Jesus every day. Please, please call me if you need phone prayer 913-461-9999....or if you just want me to read scripture to you over the phone. My heart and prayers are with you and your whole family.

With all HIS glorious love...and in HIS holy, blessed and precious name I will pray,
Diana

I wanted to cry for you- thinking of dropping your lil one off at daycare today must have been heartbreaking- and to have all this on your plate, you are a fighter and so strong - GOD is with you and will help you rid your body of this disease..
Since we emailed way back in October, when you helped give me advise and concern over my illness I am dealing with, you were such a comfort, you give me strength as well.
I would like to be included in your sisters e updates naomiwhite04@yahoo.com
We love you girl~ stay strong we are ALL PRAYING for you!
As it approaches 1pm now, I know soon you will getting your filter into place, GOD be with you and keep you safe, you will pull through all this, there will be light at the end of this darkness!

Thank you for letting us all into your home last night. I was so happy to be able to see you again before you left for Omaha.
I can only imagine how tough this week and upcoming weeks will be, but I hope you know, especially after last night, how much power you have behind you.
These are the things I am praying for every day:
1. YOU - your surgery, your strength
2. Doug - I am beyond thankful that he is in your life
3. Ella - I know she will miss you, but after watching her and Keaton play last night, I hope she will see this time as one big slumber party!
4. Doug's Family - The loss of a loved one is never easy
5. Your Dad & all of your family - may they put all illness behind them and remain healthy this time around!
My head and heart are like my mouth - they never stop, so the list is filled with many other little things for you, but those are the highlights. :)
I love you and will miss you. I hope no one will hesitate to call me if I can be of any help with Ella, Lexi, etc.

Stay Strong!
Love, d

I just checked your blog and checked the clock and realize you are already in Omaha preparing for your procedures. I had hoped to get these verses to you before you left, but want you to know I'm praying them and believing them for you. Sorry I don't have time to type them all out, but here are the references:
Mark 11:23-24
Luke 4:40
John 15:16
John 16:23-24
I hope these encourage you. Please know that you have many people praying for you and BELIEVING in complete healing for you.
Looking forward to hearing the updates.

My prayers are with you. Please don't let the fear be greater than the faith. With so many people pulling for you, and prayers do move mountains, you are not alone.

Even though I have never met you, I know you are an amazing person who gives and receives love. I can feel the love that surrounds you from here and I know you are in good hands.

We'll be praying very hard for a successful surgery and a quick recovery. Please let Chad or I know if we can do ANYTHING for you guys--help with Ella or Lexi or anything. Doug, so sorry about your grandfather, we know from experience how hard that can be. Give your mom our best as well. You have our information if you need us. If you get a chance, have Andrea add us to her email distribution.

Love & prayers,
The Cures
