The filter is being placed now...

Dr. Jordache is currently performing the filter placement procedure. He informed us he will make a small puncture in Shawndra's neck, instead of via the groin.

Although a bit tired this morning, Shawndra is in good spirits. Ella didn't shed a single tear this morning at daycare. That made it easier to leave. We know she's in good hands while we're away.

Tonight, Shawndra and I plan to settle into the extended stay hotel, find a good restaurant, and most importantly... rest.

I'll just quickly mention that my grandfather is succumbing to the inevitable. It's remarkable how strong the mind is. I won't go into details about his condition, but I will comment that his will to live over the past few days is an inspiration. He's comfortable, and my mother and grandmother are by his beside. I dread receiving the phone call. I struggle with the decision to attend the funeral and remaining by Shawndra's side. Shawndra comes first. I'll just have to evaluate the everything later in the week.

I better get back to the surgery waiting room. I'm sure the docs have finished up with my baby.

Calling her "you baby" just makes things seem okay. She's being protected by the Lord and you...what a great place for her to be. God bless and thank you for the update!

I follow Shawndra's story, yet have never posted (atleast I don't think I have). Anyways, please know that even complete strangers like me are rooting for Shawndra. She's so strong and I hope for a fast and speedy recovery.

Thanks so much for the update as I have thinking about Shawndra all day. And I am SO glad to hear the Ella got dropped off without tears. As a mom, I can totally understand what a relief that was.

Here's to a restful evening!!

Dear Doug,
Bless you with all you are going through with your family and Shawndra. You are where you need to be...by Shawndra's side. Watching you two last night is a beautiful picture in my mind of true love and support for one another that alot of couples never achieve. May Christ help you to stay strong and even multiply that love.
We'll be watching for your updates and praying continuously as you journey through this trial.
Psalm 55:22 "Cast your cares on the Lord and He will sustain you: He will never let the righteous fall. (repeat this verse often for God is a God who keeps his promises).

Thank you for the update. I wish Josh and I could have been there last night, but it is hard to make that drive from Oklahoma and be back for work the next morning. We are praying hard for the entire family. Life is not easy, but getting through times like these help remind mind you how precious it is. We will be checking in often. You can do this.

Thank you for the update, Doug. I've been thinking about Shawndra all day. I stuck a package in the mail for Ella today, too...I'm glad the drop-off went well, that had to help ease Shawndra's mind.

Even though we've never met, I'm praying for your entire family, Doug. I'll be holding Shawndra close to my heart over the next few days.

I am happy to hear that Ellas drop off went well. Funny how things work out. I am sad to hear that your Grandfather is slipping, and the decision you might be faced with would be heart wrenching. I pray that if and when you are faced with that, that things will also work out for you. We are thinking about you all.
