1 hour down, ? to go

It's 9:40AM. Shawndra has been in surgery for a little over one hour. Shawndra's parents, Les (Shawndra's cousin), Jerry (Les's collegue) and I prayed together during her pre-op phase. Shawndra was nervous and scared, but ready to get if over with. Shawndra spoke with Andrea also. I think that gave her comfort.

I just spoke with my mother. My grandfather is most likely in his last hour. What a day, huh. My mom mentioned that Papa was waiting for something... and maybe it was for Shawndra's surgery. Love you Papa.

Love you Shawndra.

Doug,
When I woke this morning, I immediately thought of Shawndra. Kind of a strange thing, considering I have three kids to get ready for school. Anyway, when I thought of her, I felt a sense of peace like everything was going to be alright. I truly believe that. Sometimes things have to be hard before they get better. For her, hard is having surgery, but the better (cancer free) life is coming. I am sorry to hear about your Papa. Just like in the bible, sometimes someone dies so that someone can live. I am sure you have a heavy heart. Please know that we are all here for you--ALL of you.
God bless.

Doug,

ISn't it amazing how much power we have over our own body in the last hours. Your Papa must be waiting to hear about a miracle so he can thank Jesus in person.. I pray that God fills you with peace throughout the day.. Thanks for keeping us updated.

Doug,

Brad, Victoria, Olivia and I said many prayers for you, Shawndra and both sides of the family last night and this morning.
Olivia's class (a group of 3, 4 and 5 year olds) all said prayers yesterday and today. Skyler E. told the teacher about Shawndra and the prayers beagan :)
So many times I have heard that when someone is dying they have an amazing ability to hang on until whatever they are concerned about is resolved, whether it be seeing a loved one or having permission to let go and let God open the doors to eternal everlasting life.
I wish I could take away your pain and fear. Please know so many are lifting you up in prayer to comfort you and support you during this time of unrelenting stress.

I had difficulty sleeping last night. I awoke at 3:27am this morning and the first thing I thought of was the "Footprints in the Sand" poem. I posted it early this morning and I hope it gives you some comfort. Know the Lord will carry you when it is too hard to walk and your family and friends will carry you too; right beside the Lord.

I called Q-104 to day, and e-mailed them to request that they play "She's A Butterfly" for Shawndra. I also gave them the link to this blog in hopes of recruiting more prayer warriors.

May the Lord please bless, comfort and protect you, Doug. May the Lord also quiet the fears and provide you the strength to continue on.

All our love,
Brandi

For Shawndra:

She's A Butterfly by Martin McBride

She remembers when she first got her wings
And how she opened up that day
she learned to sing
Then the colors came, erased the
black and white
And her whole world changed
when she realized

[Chorus:]
She's a butterfly, pretty as the crimson sky
Nothing's ever gonna bring her down
And everywhere she goes
Everybody knows she's so glad to be alive
She's a butterfly

Like the purest light in a darkened world
So much hope inside such a lovely girl
You should see her fly, it's almost magical
It makes you wanna cry, she's so beautiful

[Chorus]

God bless the butterfly,
give her the strength to fly
Never let her wings touch the ground
God bless the butterfly,
give her strength to fly
Never let her wings touch the ground

[Chorus]

God bless the butterfly,
give her the strength to fly
Never let her wings touch the ground
God bless the butterfly,
give her the strenght to fly
Never let her wings touch the ground

My heart goes out to all Beauchamps and Turners today. Your posting reminded me of this:

When God closes a door, he opens a window.

I believe your grandfather may be enabling that window to open for Shawndra.

With you in spirit.
Love, Dustin
