Anniversary

Doug and I have been married 3 years today. Happy Anniversary Baby! What a wonderful (most of the time) three years plus the two more years we have been together, it has been. Obviously we have had our trials but we took our vows seriously and we are being tried of our dedication to those vows. We meant it when we said, "for richer and poorer, in sickness and in health". I don't know, now that I think about it if I agree with the statement, "until death do us part". I don't think death will part us, atleast not our souls! Thank you Doug for an incredible 3 years of marriage. I respect and admire you, and love you as a friend as well as a husband and a father.
On another note, I have a couple prayer requests: for Mike O'Reilly who was just diagnosed with lung cancer. His sister, Kelley comments on my blog quite frequently. They were family friends growing up. Even though we haven't seen each other in years, it has been wonderful to be reunited even through this blog. I pray for Mike and your family who is going through this difficult time. I pray for a good outcome! Please let me know if there is anything myself or my family can do for you all! Also for Jennifer Ireland's family. It has been 6 months from her passing. I think about her and her family a lot. I feel like part of their family and pray for them. Please keep praying for Jan, Bob, Chris, Emma and Peyton (did I spell that wrong?). They are incredible people and I hold them close to my heart.

I had an appointment with my oncologist yesterday. I had lab work done, so I will hopefully know what they are sometime today. They drew a CEA, tumor marker, which after talking to Dr. Foster at Creighton, he said this would be an important factor in figuring out what is going on.. since my oncologist really doesn't know and kind of talked in circles yesterday. We are still waiting to hear from my surgeon who should be back to the office today. I hope to hear from her maybe tomorrow, I know they have a stack of stuff when they get back in town. As Doug said last night, it must be hard to be a physician, going on vacation, you have double the work when you get back. I guess it is probably like that for everyone, isn't it? It almost makes vacation not worth it, even though it is!!! Anyway, I will let you know how my labs come out and what I find out when I hear from my surgeon. In the mean time I am on hold with chemo or any other treatments. I will be going down to MD Anderson from August 20-23 with Doug, Ella and my parents to be reevaluated there and see what they have to say. I will not give up!!!!
One last thing to tell you. Ella starts daycare tomorrow. It will be a difficult morning tomorrow when I take her there and leave her. ugh, I don't want to even think about it. I am glad we are putting her in a daycare though, I think it will be good for her, more socialization with other kids, etc. She will only be in two days a week, so i will still have lots of time with her. I hate to admit it, but it will be kind of nice to have a couple days to myself to get errands done, or just relax for a change. Ella continues to work on peepeeing and pooping in the potty. I believe it has become more of a game now though, she does it quite often, but doesn't really do anything on the potty. It is very time consuming and we go through a lot of diapers. I plan to go get some training panties to see how that goes. We tried pretty underwear this weekend, but they got soaked quickly. oh, the trials of potty training.
Oh, I want to say congratulations to Lisa Mudge, another friend who comments often on the blog. She just had her second child yesterday,a baby girl, Madison (one of my absolute favorite names)! Congratulations, I am so glad you are all doing well!!!
"Get the lead out.. That is all." (quote from Better off Dead). Ella is into the dirty clothes laundry basket, gotta run....shawndra

Thanks Shawndra for the prayers for Mike. Your family has be very instrumental in getting the ball rolling with him. i have shared several of your veiws with him in hopes that some of your positiveness wears off on him. As for you, congratulations on three years married. Next thing you know you'll look up and be celebrating twenty three years! I remember those first days of day care...I think they were harder for me then the kids! At first you do alot of watching the clock for "pick up " time. Kinda defeats the purpose of time to yourself, but you'll adjust quickly. Enjoy you anniversary day, and thanks for all your inspiration, not just to me and my family, but to so many people!

Shawndra, Thanks for the update on your prognosis. I pray for you and think of you every single day!!!! Jan and I are ready to come and see you whenever you are ready. I know you have alot on your plate right now but I am looking forward to some time to spend with you. Three years of wonderful bliss!!! Ha. Well we all know there are ups and downs with everything we do but you are so very lucky to have such a strong, caring man beside you. That is a gift from God. I have one of those and could not go through life without him. I hope your day is wonderful and I will pray for great results. Love, Melodie Chrisman

I pray daily that God heals you completely and guides you the right direction to beat this. He has already given you the tenacity to fight...what a big step to already have! You and your family are always in my prayers. Enjoy your day and good luck with Ella starting day care. She will have a blast! God Bless!

August is a wonderful month for Anniversaries. Our daughter and her husband (who have given us two wonderful grandsons: Ethan (2 1/2) and Owen (7 months) will celebrate their 10th on the 9th. Richard and I will celebrate our 34 year on the 16th.
God is good all the time; even when we doubt His closeness He is their for us in ways we cannot imagine. Blessings to you dear Shawnra and your beautiful family. Thank you for your eternal optimism which lifts me when I read your blog. You are a gift from God that we treasure everyday.
Love, Lynene Sandbloom

Congratulations on your 3rd anniversary. I am the previledged one who gets to be there with you so much of the time and I thought today would be a nice time to finally reply to your blog. I am so proud of both of you. You are facing so much together and handling it with grace and humor. Way to go. Hope you enjoy celebrating your anniversary together today and always.

Shawndra,
I have been following your blog via Jennifer Ireland's blog via. You are very courageous and I admire your strength in dealing with this. These various blogs have really added new meaning and a new dimension to my life, so thank you.
I usually don't comment on these things but, I guess there's a first for everything. I think you'll be really pleased with your choice to let Ella have some time away from you! :) I am a stay-at-home mom and about two years ago I started working like 8 hours a week, but it did require two days a week at "school" for my 18-month and 3-year old. The first day was the worst day of my life, and definitely much harder on me then on the kids. The first month, I dropped them off at 8:00 a.m., went to work and picked them up at 1:00pm which was as quick as I could get from work to the center! Eventually, I got to the point where I could let them enjoy their day and I finally got to enjoy my time away, as well as simple things like a trip to Target without having to browse in the toy section, or a stop at the post office without having to undo the car seats, lug kids inside for two minutes, back out, etc. (you know the drill)! You'll be a better mom with more time to concentrate on Ella when she's with you when you have the time to accomplish what you need to do (even if it's take a nap). All this from someone (me) who wasn't going to be one of those "daycare moms!"
Congratulations on your anniversary. Make it a good one. You seem to have a terrific guy.

Happy Anniversary to both of you! Nothing is more difficult than dropping of your child at daycare or school, but know that you are doing the right thing for Ella. We all want to be our children's playmates for life, but unfortunately they usually prefer someone their own size!! tee hee
You are continually in my thoughts and prayers!

Hi Shawndra,

I've recently been catching up on your life through your blog. I must say you are so courageous and use humor in the most appropriate ways. I can hear your laughter and see your smile through your posts.
I forgot you are a fellow Leo, and sounds like you had a wonderful birthday. I think i remember the carnival you had in your back yard one year for your birthday!
The love and support you have just through this blog is awesome!
I'm keeping you and your family close to my heart today and always.
Happy Anniversary,
Amy Graver Beers
