Another week off

A quick update... I went to have my labs drawn today because one of my lab values, my absolute neutrophil count (for those medical people) was low for the study. When we repeated it today, it was still low, so I have to hold off on getting chemo this week. I have to repeat the bloodwork Wednesday and see if they are okay to start chemo next Monday. To tell the truth, now I am questioning whether I want to do the study drug or not, I would still do chemo just not get the study drug. There are many reasons for this thought, but I am searching around to get some other opinions on the drug to make an informed decision. I also found out today, that the biopsy results from last weeks endoscopic ultrasound came back negative, non-cancerous. That is great news!!! This may change everything as far as treatment goes. The doctor who did the procedure and biopsy tried to reach my oncologist and my surgeon, both were out of town. So I hope to hear more tomorrow when my oncologist gets back and can get this information. I have more to talk about, but I really want to go talk a bit with my husband. I feel like we haven't had time to just sit and talk at all lately. We need to catch up with each other. Shawndra

Great news on the biopsy! As for the deciding which route to take for further treatment.....I know you will choose the path that holds the best results for you. It is difficult to know, but with information you gather and alot of prayers from everywhere, you will arrive at the answer. Have a WONDERFUL week!!!!

Shawndra, we don't know each other. I found your blog through Jennifer Ireland's blog. I have been reading your blog now for a while, but I haven't posted before. Your positive attitude and kind spirit shine through your entries. Congratulations on the biopsy results! That is wonderful news!!
I am having my own issues, and I have scheduled a colonoscopy for August 31. Your blog is part of the reason why I finally scheduled it. Thanks...

I have been keeping up with you on this blog. I have met you a time or two in the neighborhood and have emailed you a few times (regarding the directory..) Anyway, I am rooting you on! You are an inspiration. I emailed Oprah once and will email her again after seeing Brandi's suggestions. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you...

I loved your comments about your friend's visit. It is so much fun to hang out and laugh with childhood/college friends that know you so well. I am a "Better Off Dead" fan too! I can't remember the situation, but a few years ago I told a guy at work "I want my two dollars!!" He just gave me a crazy look. I guess he was too young to be a fan of the movie...

Have a great week. -Denise Williams

Shawndra,
I am so happy for your negative results. I have been praying for you and also for your family. My mom went through Pancreatic cancer over 2 years ago and I know exactly how your family must feel watching you go through this and feeling helpless. Keep fighting and following your gut, the doctors told us that my mom only had 18 months to live andhere she is 2 years later cancer free....miracles do happen and prayer works so my mom and I will keep on praying hard for you. I check your blog everyday and thank you for sharing your journey with us. I was just thinking about our days on 2Henson last week and how fun it was to work with you....I still eat Kashi with Splenda & cinnamon sprinkled on it :) It reminds me of you everytime I have it for a snack!!!
Keeping you in my prayers...
Melody
