Happy Easter

I just wanted to tell everyone Happy Easter weekend. Doug, Ella and I are going out to my grandma's house in Holyrood, Kansas. We will spend Saturday at my Aunt's farm which is always so much fun.

I have not gotten the official results from my oncologist. I hope to know more tomorrow and I will let you all know as soon as I know more information.

I wanted to let you all know I did hear from Cynthia Newsome from NBC. She informed me that I will be on the news this coming Monday the 9th, on the 5, 6 and 10pm news.

Doug and I have included a couple pictures. One is from our neighborhood easter party this past weekend. The other picture is with

Ella's new castle that Grandma, Papa (my parents) and I put together from a box. She loves it! It was a fun activity creating it!

Everyone have a great weekend, let's celebrate the resurrection of Christ and enjoy our time with friends and family. Until next time.... Shawndra

Shawny-
I will be missing you all so much this weekend. Give Grams a big hug for me. Enjoy the farm and family.
Ella is just adorable, can't wait for the kids to get together next week and play (just fearful that Keaton will destroy the "castle")!
We are constantly praying for you and earning to be nearer, soon!! Remember that Christ died for our sins and rose again to give us life everlasting. He has promised not to forsake us and that means YOU!! Keep holding onto your ever growing faith, it's so important. You are, as so many wonderful bloggers are stating, an AMAZING woman! I look forward to just being close to you again, to be in your inspiring presence. Keep it up girlie!!
Love ya,
Dre

I would like to place an order for one blue castle for Charter Patterson. Ha Ha! Papa and Grandma just put themselves in a hole, everyone will now want what Ella has.

Hello. I'm finishing editing on your stories today.

Just FYI, the longest story about you will be on the 5:00 Monday news, probably in the second or third segment.

At 6AM, 6PM, and 10PM there will be "condensed versions" of your story.

I think they're putting all the Colon Cancer series stories on our web site too, so if you want to e-mail it to friends in the future it should be on there.

Just letting you in on a little more info! I was shooting the "blog" for a quick mention in one of the stories and saw your post about us. :)

Thanks!

Dear Shawndra,
Hi, I'm Jan Velander, Jen Ireland's mom. I just saw you on tv. Your interview was awesome and you showed tremedous strength and courage, much like my Jen. I'm praying fervently for you. I don't understand why there's cancer, why it hits young children or mothers or fathers of young children. You appear to be a fighter like Jen was so keep that positive attitude, keep living your life and don't let the "C" word dominate you. I look forward to meeting you at the Crawl for Cancer. There will be many people there but hopefully we'll connect since I read your blog and you've probably seen pix of me on Jen's blog.
Many prayers,
Jan
p.s. My email is janvelander@sbcglobal.net if you ever want to e-chat or maybe your mom wants to talk. I understand, empthathize and sympathize with what is going on in your lives.

Shawndra,
I don't normally watch the 6pm news, but I turned it on and just saw your story. My father passed away in February after a 6 year battle with color-rectal cancer. You are inspiring so many by this website. I know your positive attitude will help continue to aide you in good health. God Bless you Shawndra. I wish you many years of good health and happiness.

Shawndra,

Just saw the text segment online at the NBC website...we can't wait to see the video late tonight or tomorrow. We too remain hopeful for your continued improved health.

Hope your Easter was enjoyable. The girls got stomach aches... after church, brunch, hockey game and tons of candy....ha.

Love from Dallas...

Wanted to let you know I have both the 5:00 and 6:00 segments on tape for Andrea or you if you didn't tape it. It was a great piece and you and Ella adorable. I loved it and it gave great info.

Hi Shawndra,

My wife and I saw your story on NBC Action News (ch41) and felt compelled to let you know that we will be praying for you and your family. Our church has several cancer survivors and I will make sure they are in the loop too.

God Bless,

Shawndra...I saw your story yesterday on NBC. You looked so familiar; you probably don't remember me, but I skated with you and Andrea a LONG time ago...I think the two of you were on your way out when I was coming in. Both you and your sister were the "older girls" I looked up to-you were strong skaters and I am sure that strength has not left you. You were an inspiration to me then and are an inspiration to me now. I am keeping you in my prayers and I wish you all the best.

Love, Meghann Milliken

Hi Shawndra, Doug & Ella,

We saw your interview and you were wonderful! Spencer and Jon were so excited to see you on TV and Jackson recognized Ella as the "baby he ate a sandwich with"!!

We hope chemo went well today!
