Biopsy

Well, I have great news.... the pathology from the biopsies all came back negative. Thank you God! He is definitely hearing our prayers and I believe I am going to be living proof that miracles happen!! I hope he is using me as proof that he does exist and to convince those who are unsure, as I have been in the past!
The next step, get more information from MD Anderson and then from Dr. Foster in Omaha to make an informed decision on what to do with the cancer that still exists in my abdomen.
Ella is enjoying daycare. She got a fever though on Tuesday so couldn't go Wednesday. Thankfully the fever only lasted about 12 hours, but it did start to scare us, getting up to 103 degrees. So we have been hanging out the last couple days. She continues to peepee and poopy in the potty fairly regularly. We are still using diapers. I am unsure if we should switch her to pullups or those underwear with cotton inside and Vinyl outside or what to do. Any suggestions from all those experienced mothers out there?
I better go, we tried to put Ella to bed, she is kicking her crib right now. I look forward to a fun filled weekend. I hope you all have one as well! Take care. shawndra
PS. I think a thunderstorm is coming, weee, I am going to enjoy sleeping with the storm, ahhhhhh. night night all.

That is wonderful news!! I am so excited for you!
Also we used pull ups for potty training but both my kiddos were just over 3 1/2 years when they were potty trained, so I am certainly not an expert. Haha!

Have a great weekend!! I sure hopes that is rains too tonight. Very cozy!!

YEAH..YIPPEE..WHOO HOO! That is great news! We will continue the prayers, that you will have all the information you can possibly have so that you can make the BEST decision possible on further treatments. This news makes me smile!!! Good girl Ella, as for diapers or other, there isn't any magical solution, but it doesn't last too long and she will be wearing those pretty panties before you know it. For now, do what works best for you. Have a great weekend, as I am sure you will!

Hi Shawndra, I 've been keeping up with your blog & that is just great news about your biopsies. I wanted to let you know that your story has really inspired me to take better care of myself. I'm a nurse, but you know, there's lots of people in health care who are always trying to heal others but not paying attention to their own needs. I have had a major change in my GI goings-on & have decided it is time to talk to my dr. about it. I am not looking forward to the colonoscopy that I see on the horizon, but I guess I have to do what I have to do. Thanks for being so inspiring to all of us in your time of difficulty. Have a great weekend & I hope you get only positive news in Houston.

Hi Shawndra! I am so excited to read that your the biopsy's were all negative. That is awesome and yes, a total answer to prayer. I can't wait to update my blog buddies that have been asking for an update! As for the potty training...I have a son but the pull ups were better than diapers. It's more like big kid pants but not quite the mess like real underwear. Just stay consistant during the day...ie pullups and then diapers at night but don't keep flip flopping. That's my motherly advice. LOL.

Congratulations on the great news!!!

The training pants are better for learning, as pull-ups cover up accidents a little too well. They are also better for the environment and are not laden with chemicals used to soak up moisture quickly. Pull-ups might be better for if you are going out and it would be difficult to clean up any accidents. I run a forum on early childhood development (I am Angie's sister, by the way), if you are interested. www.earlyconsult.com

Shawndra - I think miracle is a good word for it. So, now when you meet people, you can say you're a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and walking proof that God does hear your prayers.

Thank you for sharing this wonderful news - I think it just might carry me through the 60 miles I'm walking next weekend. Keep on keeping on! love you!Dawner

What wonderful news! God is so good!

I must agree with the last entry about the pull ups. If you use big girl undies Ella will be able to tell when she starts to have an accident, pull ups are good for night and travel. Besides, she will just look so darn cute!! I have 3 kids, 2 boys and a girl. My youngest Avery just turned 4 and I was at JC Penny the other day and they have boy cut undies for little bitty girls. I just had to buy them!

More prayers coming your way!
We really need to get Oprah on this. You have obviously been such an inspiration to so many already, just think how many you could help if you had a national platform?!
I am so proud of your courage and strength and will continue to pray for you and for all of those suffering from cancer.
I think I'll email Oprah again today...

Take care!
Deb

Praise God! He is SO faithful! He has an amazing plan for your life - Jeremiah 29:11

I found that pull-ups and vinyl panties did not work for my oldest daughter - we had to go cold turkey - panties or nothing at all if we were home - she had to be "wet" and see the pee pee to make the connection - my second born caught on quicker because she had an older sister to watch...whatever works for you and does not increase your stress level or work load is what I would go with! Congrats on the progress you guys have made and AWESOME news about the biopsy! Sunshine

shawndra,
My first daughter showed interest around 20 months, it then quickly passed and a struggle. We went back to diapers she potty trained by the time she was 30 months. My son was the same way he was 34 months. With my youngest she is 25 months and starting to show interest. I just got her cotton panties for when we are home and huggies for bed time. so far so good. - key is to relax knwo every kid is is eventually using the potty, some quicker than others - big range is normal - Liz in KC

Congrats on the great news!!
I would forget the pull-ups & go with regular underware it is better if they feel the difference of underwear.
