Andrea's Birthday

Happy Birthday Andrea!!!!! Please give her as much love that you all gave me for my birthday. She is such an incredible, wonderful person, friend, sister, mother, wife and daughter. She deserves nothing but the best. Unfortunately I can't be with her to celebrate today, but I will make up for that this weekend hopefully! I met today with the surgeon at MD Anderson. He doesn't think I am a candidate for any type of surgery. He stated that my disease is or atleast was at the beginning, quite large in amount. He thinks chemotherapy is the only option at this time. I have my CAT scan tonight, then I meet with the oncologist tomorrow. In the mean time, we are going to go have some fun.
Everyone talks about me being courageous, strong, etc. Today, as I was sitting, waiting to be seen, the nurse came out and called out "Ginger". A young girl about 8 years old, said, "that's me!" ugh. This young girl going through this is absolutely heart wrenching, she is "strong and courageous" for battling cancer at what should be one of the best times of her life, her childhood. Not me. I am just doing what anyone else would do. I see Ella, and she reminds me to keep up the fight everyday. Thank God for her as well as the rest of my family, friends and tremendous support system. Thank you! Anyway, we are going to go play. So far no severe weather to report.
Andrea, I love you, I hope you have a fantastic birthday today!

Happy Birthday Andrea! We haven't met yet but I hear and read about you often. Shawndra- I was just saying I need to call you. I hope some of your fun today is in the eating in Houston (and that you are not stuck doing another prep). We are all praying for you here at the Latz home (and for your family and doctors). I loved Ella's trick on the video by the way! She is such a doll- hope she is well now. Keep the faith. We are all sending you positive energy and thoughts as well.

Thanks Sissy! I did have a great day and thanks for the calls and many e-cards! Hee Hee! I know that you wanted to hear more than you are not a surgical candidate at this time, however, as we discussed it's one surgeon, one opinion, and you are ONE in a million. You (along with God) can prove that you are strong enough to fight and WIN this battle. I love you and miss you! Enjoy my most recent home town! Wish we were there with you, holding your hand and letting you know that - It's ok - just have faith!!
Love you and see you soon!
Thanks again for the B-day wishes!

Shawndra-
I just got to read your story as I checked on the Golf tournament in Jennifer's honor. I cannot tell you how humbling your story is to me! You are very strong and courageous and it makes me want to love everything this world has to offer a little bit more! Know that I just said a special prayer for you and your family. Please keep the faith and stay strong. You are beautiful creation of the Heavenly Father and I pray that he will continue to be with you throughout the coming days and months! And remember no matter how tall the mountain God will climb it with you!

Shawndra Please read this and know that God it with you!
One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was
walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the
sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he
noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one
belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When
the last scene of his life flashed before him, he
looked back at the footprints in the sand. He
noticed that many times along the path of his life
there was only one set of footprints. He also noticed
that it happened at the very lowest and saddest
times in his life. This really bothered him and he
questioned the Lord about it. "Lord, You said that
once I decided to follow you, You'd walk with me all
the way. But I have noticed that during the most
troublesome times in my life, there is only one set
of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed
you most you would leave me." The Lord replied,
"My son, My precious child, I love you and I would
never leave you. During your times of trial and
suffering, when you see only one set of footprints, it
was then that I Carried You."

Andrea....Happy Birthday!!!!! So sorry I missed the actual day, so I hope it was great. Shawndra, you continue to be on our prayers. Bravery comes in all shapes and sizes, as do times of our lives. You are strong and brave, just as the little girl you watched being called into her appointment. Remember that you too are someones child and that feeling of admiration you had for the little girl is the same feeling so many people have for you. Have a great rest of the week and hopefully you are able to share some fun and celebration with the family for Andreas birthday.
