Progress

Shawndra is healing quickly. Already the NG has been removed, the catheter will be disconnected shortly, and she'll be preparing to do laps around the hospital halls. Dr. O'Brien is very encouraged by the rapid progress she's making.

I know I promised photos and video of Ella's flower girl debut... and I'll try to accomplish that today. I'm going to engage Shawndra in that process. (Better than reading trash People & US magazines!)... j/k baby! I know you like those. :)

Emotionally speaking, today has started out 10 times more positive than yesterday (as perhaps evident by the tone of this post).

Okay, this concludes my stint as substitute BLOG guy. Next up... your lovely host, Shawndra.

Great news, I am so happy for her progress!! What a tough cookie!! Please tell her that I can't wait to hear from her as by the time I was told to pray for her through S. Vest's site, she was already in the hospital & I read her " novel " :) & now can't wait to read a msg. that she has written now! I'm tellin' ya, I really am a fan!!
Since reading her memoirs, I continue to pray for her & your family many times a day. I think of you all often. Thanks for the great news, from one little catholic nurse in Jeff City to another, Vickie Kruse

Shawndra is a post-surgical soldier! I'm sure she'll be speed walking through the halls in no time...just make sure her bum is covered... ;)
I conveniently left the US Weekly for her. A girl has to stay on top of the gossip!
Doug, keep up the good work. As shown on NYE, you have a way of making all of us laugh until we cry by just being you, so don't hesitate to bust out the dance moves on our girl! :)
I hope to see you both soon. Have a great day.

Love, dustin

Great news on the progress. Ok Doug, computer knowledge IS better than trash magazines....however, you never know when it will be important to know all the dirt on celebrities. It could be vital information. Well maybe that's an exageration, but it sure makes for some entertaining reading sometimes. Keep up the good work in regards to recovery, it's that kind of news that adds a bright spot to dreary days like today.

The video is incredible. Love the little wave! The pictures are wonderful. It is heartbreaking that her mom had to miss her walk down the aisle. Thank you so much for sharing it with us all. Joyce

Shawndra - I am thinking of you every day. I know you wanted to see Ella at the wedding but taking care of her Mommy is the most important thing you can do. I am so glad to hear you are having such wonderful progress and I send you my thoughts and blessings your way.

Shawndra and Doug,

It is so good to hear the hope in your "voice"! It is no coincidence that the sun is shining so beautifully today! I believe God is giving you more hope.

That video is so bittersweet. Ella is so adorable, of course. But that music, and her walking down the aisle...where did the little girl go?? I love the picture of her dancing - you can see so much spirit in her eyes, and she looks like her mommy.

Keep up that spirit and the amazing progress!

Hi Shawndra, it's Natalie Cope from good old ice skating days. I've recently been in touch with your sister via Facebook and heard about your on going fight. I know you are a fighter....that's what us skaters do! ;) (nattyc13@aol.com)
