Home For the Holidays!

Hello Everyone- It is good to be back blogging with you all. I've missed you. I have to say, I am making a lot of mistakes in my typing, which I am trying to correct but apologize. My fingers aren't need a little typing rehab, hehe.

Well I got home this afternoon, so it has been a long day. About ready for bed, but wanted to say hello. Thank you all for your love, prayers, words, etc. Please do not worry about what everyone says, i can handle anything anyone chooses to write on the blog (unless it is downright mean). I appreciate everyone's protection, but I am realistic, I know what is going on, for the most part. Even though i am optimistic for a major miracle to keep me alive for many years, I am aware of my situation. People are free to blog how they wish, and I appreciate them all.

Thank you to everyone who came to help me out, thank you to my family and most of all thank you Doug. Many men can't handle such a situation and he has not only stood by me but he has loved me unconditionally even when i struggle to love myself. He lifts me up when I am down and he endures so much to keep our family running when I am not there to help (with a lot of help from my parents on that on). He is incredible. I have received so many miracles already, Doug being one. I think I have already received my share of miracles. I will just continue my service to God and hope he will use me here. Only he knows....

Happy Holidays everyone, I wish you great days ahead with family, friends, love and lots of laughter. Your friend, Shawndra

It's past midnight, Shwandra.

I hope your are sound asleep, in your cozy bed along with your husband and child.

I'm so excited you're home, kid.

I'm so happy you wrote on your blog.

I'm so happy you can understand us all, but we're always more amazed on your strength and will to go on.

Fantastic.

Don't give up.

We haven't given up praying for God to do the miracle you so much deserve!!

We're also aware you are very realistic, and are being able to cope with our words of concern,
and wishes you be in peace and not to be afraid of whatever is ahead of you.

As your grandma just wrote me: "I'm sure God has a good plan for her"

REST, rest, enjoy, accept, love, hug, and yes, you've got the best husband there is.
You deserve him.

Love,

Roswita

PTL. I am so glad you were able to come home. I was at church last Sunday and a lady asked for a prayer request for a young mother with cancer who had a beautiful daughter Ella. I looked at the lady and said, "are you talking about Shawndra Turner?" I just think it is so neat how God works in all of our lives. Continue the fight Shawndra and you are soooooo lucky to have a fantastic man like Doug!!! (Doug is lucky to have you too). My prayers are with you daily.

Hi Shawndra -

I was in Alpha Phi with you at Drake....I know it's been a long long time, but I came across your blog because my best friend's sorority sister was Stephanie Vest. I was absolutely shocked to put the pieces together and realize that it was you who has been fighting cancer! I really had to keep looking to match up Beauchamp. I didn't want to think it was actually you...Not many people have the name Shawndra and from KC.....My heart was pretty much broken thinking about Stephanie and then reading about the fight you are in. I know I wasn't that close with you in college, but I am praying for you and thinking of you. I saw your smiling face in the blog photos, and I remember you as exactly that - a happy go lucky gal who is fun and spirited. God gives us all gifts, and those are definitely just a few of yours. Much peace and love- Rachel (Roman) Speh Drake '99

Oh dear Shawndra, how much we have missed you and how wonderful you are to say what you have said. I was one of the people who felt I might have said wrong things when I wrote about how much I didn't want to lose you, or for this world to lose you. Thank you dearly for the "permission" to be able to express those kinds of sentiments, though I understood your husband's wish to protect you from such thoughts. I so wish I could meet you. Though it seems a little crazy to feel that you love someone you have never met, I do feel that I love you, and I know I not alone in that. Welcome home. It is true that you are incredibly blessed. Thank you for sharing your blessings with us. With all my heart, I hope you are able to stay home and enjoy Christmas with your beloved family. Love, Joyce

Oh Shawndra, I'm in tears knowing that you are home for Christmas. I knew this would happen. You are so grounded in your thoughts and understanding, we can all learn from you. I work for hospice and have learned so much from my work, particularly the compassion that people hold in life and humanity, it is beautiful, rich, and contagious. I wish you many days of love and laughter with your friends and family. You are precious and a gift to us all. best wishes and Merry Christmas, amy graver beers

So happy to see that you are home with your family to enjoy the holiday. Ella's laughter and smiles will do you wonders. You and your family are in my prayers daily.

Back in Sept. my son's best friend found out he was going to be fighting the same battle as you have been. Jeremy is 32 and he and his wife have 3 children. I have been following your blog for some time and feel like I ran across it not only to be a prayer warrior for you but to also give us inspiration for facing days ahead with Jeremy's family. We live in a town 100 miles south of you here in Missouri and he is taking treatments in down in Joplin. He will also be going to Houston in the near future.
I just want to say Thank You for the time and effort you put into this blog when you all have such a busy life with your own Dr appts and such. You not only inspire but also teach us what going through the cancer battle is like and some of what to expect.

Have a Very Blessed Christmas and stay warm as it looks like the KC and surrounding areas are in for some low low temps!!! Peggy

Shawndra,

Its so wonderful to hear you're back home and just in time for Christmas. You're right, these little things are the miracles. I think sometimes as Christians we expect something big and grand, like the parting the red sea and such but we forget that every breath is a miracle, every birth, every sunrise, every moment is not ours to own but His. Ok, enough of my "romantic" thoughts on life. ;)

I know Doug and Ella are happy to have you there. You're right again, Doug is amazing. I don't know many husbands and dads that can do what he does and with a sincere smile on his face. You are so blessed and I am so blessed just to be able to see Ella everyday and enjoy her imaginative spirit.

I just wanted to send you a quick note to tell you I've missed seeing you and chatting with you and I've never stopped praying for you and your family and asking God just to continue to do His work in your life. If I don't see you or talk to you before Wednesday, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Love,
Kellista

Welcome Home Girl!

It is so nice to see you online again! :) I hope that you have settled in and are resting very comfortably at home. I'm sure
Ella is making sure everyone is in the holiday spirit!
I don't want to bug you, but do want to make sure I can help out. I work Monday and Tuesday and then am off until 1/5. I will plan on calling you in a day or two to check in.

Take care and rest up!

Love you lots, d

PS - You may remember talking about all of your guardian angels, but I do believe your family, Doug and Ella are all amazing miracles God has given to you. I really do thank God, every day, for bringing you and Doug together. He is an amazing husband, father and man...and you are pretty amazing yourself...
