Hey everyone- Happy Monday to you all! I hope you had a great weekend! We had a great weekend. We did get some snow but it was very cold and not really enough to take Ella out to sled or build a snowman. She did briefly go down on a sled yesterday at Nana's house. I don't think Ella really enjoyed it though. Oh well. We had a fun event last night. Nana and Grandpa's neighborhood had a Christmas pot luck and had sleigh rides. It was soooo much fun to be on a sleigh with horses. It was a bit smelly in the front row and it was interesting being on a sleigh on Switzer Road (a fairly busy street). But it was a great time, thank you Nana and Grandpa!

Thank you all for your loving words, support and wisdom. I am so blessed to have you all in my life, even if some of you it is just a computer relationship. It doesn't seem like it, it feels just like a real relationship, except it does seem a bit on sided, sometimes. I am so lucky to have so many wonderful friends. Shawny- I understand your frustration with the system, I wish it were better too! I am the very last person to talk politics, but I guess we need to really educate ourselves about our possible Presidential candidates this upcoming year. The next President could make a huge difference in the health care system and changing it for the better. So we need to educate ourselves and vote. I am very guilty of not voting, so I am telling myself this year, it is very important to have my voice heard. One small voice can make a huge difference!

I am off to get cleaned up for the day. I am going to go help my parents decorate the lakehouse, where we are going to be spending Christmas Eve and day! I can't wait. We have that to look forward to and then we are going skiing in a few weeks too! So much to be thankful for and to celebrate. Thank you all for your continuous prayers for the miracle I believe will come! I have to believe it will! I am going to do everything I can to make it happen!! I have so much to live for! We all do! Love always, shawndra

It sounds great to spend Christmas eve and day at the lake, I'm sure the atmosphere is enchanting. And then skiing, I am so jealous. I hope this is the annual family event, what fun that is. I can see by your response that you are not taking all the posts as your own problem. There were some very good responses on your behalf, as well as ones we can all learn from. That seems to be the theme of your blog! So, as always, we are all fortunate to be a part of this, whether we have known you all your life or have just happened upon you through chance. Keep being the remarkable person you are, enjoy your holiday decorating and STAY WARM!

Shawndra, have fun decorating the lakehouse. It sounds like a good place to spend Christmas

I was watching something on the food network the other day and they were showing sleigh rides. It looked like so much fun. I've never done it. But I would love to. So I was glad to hear that at least someone I know got to enjoy s sleigh ride this winter.

Skiing sounds like fun. I've only been to Snow Creek once and that was my ski experience. It was fun though. We've talked about going to Colorado some time, but have never followed through. But as I mentioned a few days ago, hubby and I leave Wednesday for Las Vegas and I'm very much looking forward to getting away for a few days with just the two of us. We'll be back on the 23rd. Just in time for Christmas. I think I many have mentioned a couple of months or so ago that we had 1st row tickets to Wayne Newton's Christmas show. Well, unfortunately, he cancelled his entire Christmas show, so we don't get to see it this year. But we did get 7th row to David Copperfield to replace it. So all's well that ends well.

I'll check in on you after we get back and to if there are any updates. If I don't post again before the holiday, have a wonderful Christmas with your family. And remember that Jesus is the reason for the season. And keep your faith in our maker for that miracle. As miracles do happen. And because of it, people defy odds every day. I will pray and pray for your miracle. Happy holiday's and God Bless you!!

Thinking of you today as I do daily in my prayers, you have 100 plus more people praying for you in Michigan now,as my Mom is now a blog addict and added you to my hometown church's prayer list- We all feel blessed to have you in our lives, the some know you personally and some feel close to you through your blog and feel you are family and worry for you,are happy when you are up and sad when the times get rough- thank you for inviting us into your life, you are a blessing to us all! We are all praying for that miracle, think of all the diseases of the past, that used to be known as incurable, and were a epidemic or plauge and they are now a thing of the past or something that can be cured or managed with meds and such, someone has to be that first one to beat the disease for good and be that hope and answer to unlock the grip of these types of cancers....I pray you will be one to tell your story of how you BEAT this kind of cancer and you can tell Ella's grandchildren all about what a fighter thier Grandma was and was a angel to all the others after her who will also beat the cancers that some say are harder to fight...Fight on Shawndra, we are all cheering you on, as are all the other monthers gone way too soon, like Jen, I know she is your biggest cheering section in Heaven right now.
BEAT this Cancer girl, we know you can do it! We all love you out here in the land of the "blog" ..

Just catching up on your blog and putting in my two cents worth! Thanks for your strong and inspiring words and know you are touching so many hearts, and you are in so many prayers. As a mother, I always think, oh, if only I can be around til they're 6, or 12 or 18, or whatever. As those milestones come and go, I realize that, while there's never a 'good age' for someone to be without their mother, I also know that I treasure every moment with my children, my husband, my family, and of course, my own mother. It's all a gift to be treasured, and you are so obviously making the most of your life and your daughter knows how very much she is loved. Have a wonderful and magical Christmas, and hope you feel the love and prayers for you.

Oh the sleigh ride sounded like fun. I have always wanted to do that on the Plaza! Have fun decorating and glad you are feeling good. My son was bummed we didn't get more snow than we did but did manage to play in it while waiting for the bus this morning! Kids will be kids!! I agree about having to just be persistent about health care and needing to make sure our next President makes sure our health care is going in a better direction. As nurses it's our job to make sure our patients ( and now you) are getting the best health care....we are always our best advocate!

Hey Shawndra,
I wanted to make sure you know how sorry I am if I hurt you. I apologize from the bottom of my heart and hope you can forgive me. Like I said before ,My comment was not geared to hurt you but just a bad complaint against our medical system.I only wish you the best and of course I dont expect you to be resoposible to help everyone, that is an impossible feat.I am not the monster you or some of your commenters think I am.My wish for you is for God to bless you with a happy life full of love and joy with your family and friends. It is soooo hard to blog and make comments because they can get taken the wrong way,and the full story is not there on either side.
So in a token of my apology I offer this Spreader of Love blogging award in which you are so deserving. If you cant see the picture of it and if you wanttry the site that is posted or I can e-mail it to you or I can post it on my blog and you can get the award there for you to post proudly on your blog.Happy Holidays
Love Shawny

Good afternoon, My Sweet Girl. I hope you are having a wonderful day decorating the house. What a great gift that you get to be with your parents. It is the smallest things that are the greatest gifts. My gift was spending the time on the sleigh with the whole family. I will treasure the joyful sounds of my family laughing and talking. God has truly blessed this family with so much more than things. He has blessed us with you. I love you, Shawndra. Mom2

I'm so happy you are feeling so optimistic and looking forward to spending Christmas at the lake house.
You're even going skiing again.
Remember when we went along with you, the first time?
You guys were experts in it.
It was my first time.
IT was so much fun, just to watch, since I ended up being so bad doing it.
I'd rather swim in the ocean. We swam in Cozumel and Grand Cayman last week on our 5 night cruise.

I truly wish you all a Great and Fun Holiday.
You're always in my mind.
I wake up, I drive around, I fall asleep, but before that, I always think about the little Shwandra I met so many years ago, so sweet, go on dear Sweat girl and Momy.
You're making it happen.
God bless you all.

We've got to go to Kansas City and meet you all, but in the snow and'll have to melt first.

I came across your blog and it made me smile. There are people out there fighting the same fight and experiencing miracles. My friend Gina, 37, was diagnosed with brain cancer in August. View the Gina Marie Johnson page. She is a wonderful person and we are praying for a Christmas miracle. The scan was today and the news will be delivered on 12/26 and her birthday is 12/30. She has two little girls and a wonderful husband Jason. We all grew up together in Upper Michigan. Gina currently lives in Green Bay Wisconsin. Maybe you can send her a message of hope and check out her carepages site. It would be good for her to talk to someone who is going through the same emotions as we don't know what to say at times.

God Bless you! May 2008 bring you closer to the close of this disease.
