Ella and I are good. The past few weeks have been busy. If and when things slow down a bit, I'd like to post some updated photos of Ella and share a few fun stories.

Good night all.

Doug, I'm dedicating several miles of Monday's Boston Marathon to Shawndra. I've sent the "dedication document" to her shawndrab email account. She is quite an inspiration, and I have you all in my thoughts.

To the family of Shawndra Beauchamp Turner. I work for a local tv station here in KC. I came across Shawndra's tribute in the KC Star, from there I went to her blog and read numerous postings. I am inspired and encouraged. I would like to speak to a family member about her. I may be reached at shebac@hotmail.com or sheba.clarke@kctv5.com.

Hi. I was a resident that rotated through CMH when Shawndra was a nurse there and she was a fantastic lady; very kind, patient, and you could tell she loved taking care of the kids. I followed her journey on her blog and was really hoping and praying for a different outcome. Thank you for sharing your life and story with us.

Dear Doug & Ella,
I have already begun thinking of you both this week as Mothers Day has been fastly approaching. I have been thinking of Shawndra, alot as well. I will be thinking of her & praying for her family even more on Sunday.
Shawndra is such a great mother, as evidence by this blog. All the fighting she had done and everything she went through, was because she is such a good mother. She couldve given up a long time ago & saved herself so much suffering..., but she didnt. She didnt because she did everything in her power to stay here with her baby girl for as long as she could.
Now, she can be with her baby girl, ALWAYS. I bet shes closer now to Ella then when she was carrying her in utero.
I pray for Shawndras Mom this Mothers Day also. I also pray for Shawndras sister & for all the mothers who love Shawndra so much! God Bless you all, HAPPY MOTHERS DAY! Vickie

Beautiful girl with auburn hair
Her laughter, her smile…they warm you
Light up her face, a glow of happiness
A friend to all she meets, you want to know her

The word is spoken, you don’t want to hear…can it be real?
The fight begins, a body at war
Why is this happening? What does it mean?
There is no doubt, we will win

Days turn to months, the battle continues
Doubt creeps in, push it away
Don’t let it in, keep going and going
Live every moment, make memories and love

Months turn to years, the prayers start to change
The body is tired, but the mind is strong
We will not give up, we will not give in
We will win, we have to win

What is the purpose of her fate?
Help those in pain to learn, cope and heal
She did it with strength and dignity
This was her destiny, this is her legacy

She is remembered, sparkling eyes and kind words
She drew you in, she kept you there
Talk with her, feel her with you, remember her
Weep no more, the butterfly has flown home

Hey Doug,
You continue to be in my thoughts and prayers. I often wonder how our two girls are doing in heaven. I have no doubt they are tight friends and have lots to share with each other. I'm praying so hard for your strength because I understand the pain you're enduring.
I hope to see you and your dad and Shawndra's dad at the Jennifer Ireland Foundation tournament in June. It was such an honor last year when Shawndra handed out the raffle prizes. Oh, how I miss that beautiful smile and infectious laugh.
Take care and remember you still have many, many people praying for you and Ella.
With love, prayers and understanding,
Jan

Dear DOUG, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!! You deserve to have a FATHERS WEEK!! Just wanted you to know, even though I have never net you or Shawndra, I think of you both often. It amazes me how much Shawndra has touched my life & my heart.
I thought of you & prayed for your journey as Ellas Father on this fathers day.
Just so you know, my father raised 5 of us by himself, in the early 90's when it wasnt very common for a father to do this, and we had the BEST LIFE. He did a wonderful job & we never felt cheated. In fact, the 3 girls he raised, all grew up, strong & independant & intelligent, with good values & the best self respect b/c we were so loved by a wonderful man.
We all married & now have our first little ones, with wonderful husbands that are great husbands & wonderful fathers. If its true you look for a spouse that is modeled after your own father, it just shows that Shawndra had a great Dad & picked YOU & Ella will have the same.
Dont second guess your decisions ever, if you make every decision b/c you love her, first & foremost, you cant go wrong!! All you have to do is LOVE HER!! HAPPY FATHERS DAY, Vickie Wieberg in J.C., Mo.
