A prayer

Hey everyone- I hope you enjoyed your weekend. We did. I took Ella to storytime at a bookstore with Andrea and Avery (my sister and her daughter). That was fun even though they are a little young for it. Otherwise we laid low. We did get to spend a little time outside and got to eat out as a family, just the three of us Saturday night, which was great. We haven't done that in awhile! Today we made church and I stayed in with my family during the super bowl as doug went to a friends to watch the game.
I am feeling well this weekend. I am looking forward to this month off to regain my strength before surgery. The bad part of this is I have to start working out again. I had a great excuse to not work out before this, hehe. It will be good for me though to get somewhat back in shape, or atleast a start.
I wanted to mention a couple things. Jess in Nebraska, I loved the email you sent, thank you!
I don't remember the exact date, but it did occur to me tonight that it is around a year since Jennifer Ireland passed away. Please keep Chris Ireland, the girls, Jan Velander and the rest of Jenn's family in your thoughts, which I am sure many of you have already!
There also has been another young woman who was just diagnosed this weekend with colorectal cancer. I don't know her personally but have briefly met her sister who lives here in KC. Kelli is the girls name. She just found out this weekend and will be going through several tests to get more information to form the plan of treatment. Please add Kelli, her sister Jami and the rest of their family to your prayers please. I have been where Kelli is right now and it is a very scary time.
Oh, Michele, I will try to get pictures of my punks out soon. She is getting so big. Even my mom said tonight she is starting to get longer and taller! She needs a haircut though, she is a little shaggy right now. I will have to have Doug help me with that this week sometime...the picture not the haircut!
Have a great week everyone. Oh, I guess the ground hog saw his shadow, 6 more weeks of winter. I hope it goes quickly. Good night everyone. Shawndra

It breaks my heart to know you suffered so much last week. I wish there was something I could have done to make it all go away. While I know the answer may not have been the best, at least you know what to do to hopefully avoid another week like that in the future.
I hope we can spend more time together this month...maybe even hit the ice with Ella! I'd love to hear you laugh so hard you snort! :)
I know I'm repeating myself, but I think of you daily and I can't tell you how many people ask me about you and tell me they are thinking of you, as well.
Miss seeing your beautiful face - love you always, my friend. d

Sounds like you got a little of the R & R you needed. The sun and warm temp. on Sat. was good medicine as well, and I hope you were able to enjoy it. I know it is only Feb. and we have a bit of winter left, but I am patiently awaiting spring, as I am sure you are as well. When you are an outdoor person, months of inside time is so hard. I hope this month off allows you time to do all those "mental health" things that will help you through you next leg of the journey. It is amazing how time off from the norm of our lives, makes it easier to pick it up again with new found passion. Tell everyone hello, and soak up some of this sun, it's a welcome thing these days! Peace & Love.

Kelli will be added to the prayer list. I hope she can be so inspired by reading your blog, maybe she can even start her own. Shawndra has a TON of prayer warriors and we can surely add another young soul to our strength of prayer. Jami - she is in good - God's- hands! Be there for her and encourage her all that you can. If you need anything let me know, I'm the sister too!!

Hi Shawndra i have not visited your blogs in awhile so i came back to play catch up. I admire your strength and ability to keep going although i know there are times when you just want to quit. I know its hard for you i have watched my friend go through the very same thing. You wonder if it could get better or if its going to get worse. I wish there was some way that you wouldnt have to endure all the pain that you are having to endure! i know if it was me i would probably have anxiety and crying fits all the time! I admire you!

Hi
I just wanted to let you know that Nate Barrell passed away on January 24th after a two year battle with colon cancer. He was only 32!

Dear Shawndra,
I haven't commented in awhile. Sorry about that, but I'm so excited for you to be going to Creighton and Dr. Foster. Use this "off chemo" time to rest and regain your strength. They will treat you royally at Creighton...just tell them you know Jennifer Ireland...that's your golden ticket! Thanks for remembering Jen on your blog. I didn't really notice when you wrote but Jen died in the early morning hours on Feb. 4. I was expecting her beloved snow today and was surprised by the warmth of the sunshine. I can only imagine it was her arms holding us all tightly, letting us know she's safe and happy. My prayers continue for you and your family. Remember too, that you have a soul mate in heaven watching over you.
Much love and lots and lots of prayers,
Jan Velander

Shawndra,
I must say, for a woman with so much on her mind, you sure know how to grocery shop! I saw you yesterday at the grocery store, but didn't want to bother you. I just quietly watched you with complete and total admiration. I really wanted to walk up to you to hug you, but knew that would be too weird. I read your blog almost every day, and have been amazed through your words. But seeing you, and seeing, made me feel different. Here you are, this petite thing, who has the weight of the world on her shoulders. You would never know it just by looking at you. God bless you! You truly are an inspiration. Maybe next time, I will have the nerve to introduce myself.

Shawndra, you are a inspiration and good luck with your surgury, you are facing so much more than I am right now, but we both have 2 year olds and we both want to be with them for a VERY long time, so hard being sick...
